A North Carolina native, Maya graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a B.A. in political science and sociology in 2013. Maya earned her J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where she was an active member of the Howard Law Human and Civil Rights Clinic and a member of the Public Interest Law Society. During this time, she served in a prosecutorial clerkship with the DC Office of the Attorney General and with the Durham County (NC) District Attorney’s Office. In addition, Maya also interned with the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (“CREW”).

After law school, Maya worked as a law clerk with The Cochran Firm’s DC office, handling personal injury and medical malpractice litigation primarily focused on cases of negligence in long-term care facilities. Prior to joining Paulson and Nace, Maya served as a staff attorney in the Healthy Together Program at DC’s Children’s Law Center, where she represented parents/caregivers with various legal issues affecting children’s health including special education needs, housing conditions, and public benefits.

Maya is currently licensed to practice in the District of Columbia. She is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. as well as the Washington Bar Association.

Outside of work, Maya is an avid “foodie” and enjoys trying new restaurants in the area. She also enjoys “retail therapy” (i.e., shopping), working out, and spending time with family; she loves spending time with her nephew in Atlanta, GA.
