COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT ATTORNEY REFERRALS

  1. How much work is involved in referring a case to Paulson & Nace?
  2. Which attorney will handle my case?
  3. What kind of fees do you expect?
  4. I want to keep this case, but I need help. Will you assist me?

How much work is involved in referring a case to Paulson & Nace?

That depends entirely on how involved you wish to be. Often, attorneys introduce clients to us, and that is the end of their involvement. Sometimes, they like to be kept informed about the case’s progress, but don’t want an active role in representing the client. Some referral partners may choose to sit in on depositions or even the trial, and some may even offer services helping with documentation.

How involved you are is 100% up to you, and how much work you put into the case is also up to you.

Which attorney will handle my case?

It depends on your needs. Our firm has purposely remained small in size, so we could devote our time and considerable resources to handling cases to the best of our ability. When you refer a case to us, your client will work with a lawyer whose name is on the door. Each of our award-winning trial attorneys brings years of experience to every case. What kind of fees do you expect?

All fees are decided in accordance with Rule 1.5:

(e) A division of a fee between lawyers who are not in the same firm may be made only if:

(1) the division is in proportion to the services performed by each lawyer or each lawyer assumes joint responsibility for the representation;

(2) the client agrees to the arrangement, including the share each lawyer will receive, and the agreement is confirmed in writing; and

(3) the total fee is reasonable.

Partnering with Paulson & Nace will not increase the overall attorney fee for your client. These fees will be mutually agreed-upon by both parties, and a copy of the agreement will be provided.

I want to keep this case, but I need help. Will you assist me?

We find it beneficial to be involved with cases form the start, but on occasion, partners have requested our assistance after the bulk of the work has been completed. This happens most often when a partner believes a case will settle, but then moves into the litigation realm.

As experienced trial attorneys, we are able and willing to assist you at any stage of the process.
